    So i have a Metro bank account and a credit card. I opened it because there was a branch near me that was open 7 days a week and they provided fee free transactions in Europe- or so they say. Their geography is not good as they do not think Ukraine is in Europe or indeed some other countries.

    Earlier in the year they decided to stop the fee free transactions from 1st Sept - that's fine i thought, I will be back from my holibobs by then. Then yesterday they sent me a notice to say they were closing their credit card business- not selling but closing as on 10th September. So today i raised a complaint that they were in breach of their own terms and conditions, the ones that say, if changes are detrimental to me they will give me 60 days notice.

    My first reaction was to tell them to push their cards somewhere dark until I thought my face quite liked my nose really. I will use the card on holiday- checking the rates first . I don't need the credit card, I have a Barclaycard, a Natwest card and a VM card(oh the irony) that provide zero % fees in Europe and two of them worldwide.

    Just want to encourage anyone else with a Metrobank CC who has not been given 60 days notice to complain and follow it through to the FOS if necessary.

    In the past this happened to EGG.
    You will find this in the AAD Diaries
    Well and what expressly were the terms of Metro's Credit Card agreement when you opened the Account and as varied by them todate
    What do the terms of this say?

      Read what I wrote about the terms and conditions.

      This is currently nothing like Egg as the business is still running, just closing their credit card part.

      Finally, there will be no balance, it is their breach of their Terms and Conditions that caused the complaint.

        Shame isn't it Dottir they are not dancing to your tune are they! Banks change come and go fact of Life the Banking Crash impacted on Millions of lives.
        I should think the FOS have rather a thick file on you

          For crying out loud, and you think others are destroying the forum?

          I don’t care they are closing the account , what I care about is they are not following their own terms and conditions. This is a breach of contract.

          If others are facing the same problem I hope they also complain to Metrobank.

          What sort of file would the FOS have on me?

          Are you suggesting we, the consumer, just take their abuse?

          You really are being incredibly rude, is it any wonder people do not come here for help when they find your authoritarian and dictatorial approach.

            I rest my Case.
            Just need to remind AAD tatics come into the equation which means always to have your end goals in mind before engaging.

              This is not with the FOS and hopefully never will be.

              What would AAD tactics be?
              Ignore the protocols set out by the FCA ?
              Do it Roger’s way?

              This is not a problem it is for information.

              Please stop scaring people away

              You may not have noticed that for months not a single person signed up, then Niddy popped up and suddenly people were banned, people started to sign up and spammers appeared. Do you think that is a coincidence. You suggest the spammers are due to the people who were banned, you seem to lack the necessary acumen to see the correlation.

              This so called deal with JCS seems redundant as how often does anyone post? When Di was here they were all over people’s questions with sympathetic and pertinent questions.

                Hence it is a double-edged sword, and there is no simple answer. If interaction stops the claimant from issuing, that is a great result, but if it doesn't, it can make the job of defending the claim more difficult, it can be more expensive and it generally takes longer.

                A word of caution, do not assume that lack of documentation means a claimant will not issue proceedings, We have had a number of cases where claimants have employed high level barristers to argue that they do not need to provide complaint s 77-79 documentation on a closed account. We have successfully defended these on each occasion, but there is no decided case law on this so each case will be determined by a DJ based on the missions put forward.

                    If they have only just advised you now, it seems odd as there is an online link dated 28 June advising of the closure on 10 September.

                      Instead of trying to be a smart Alec ,you should understand putting a link on their website does not fulfil their obligations. If it did they would not have made an ex gratia payment as compensation for their failings to me today would they?. Already in my bank account.
