Does anybody know if Boris uses this forum and, if so, his AAD handle? We could probably get this set aside!

Whether he would have a Defence to the claim if it were to be set-aside would be another matter altogether

Boris would more likely want to sue Private Eye for damage to his reputation, although that could be tricky

            **** NEWS UPDATE ****

It seems that my speculation that this CCJ may be related to a libel/defamation issue might have been prophetic according to a BBC source tonight >

            https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-57087274

If that's true then the £535 CCJ wasn't for an unpaid bill for a roll of wallpaper after all

Given that he's apparently decided to fight it:

              Link to the Guardian

can we speculate what grounds he might have? Surely if the claim was 'totally without merit' then that should have been argued before the court and a judgement issued (or not) appropriately?

I find it hard to believe that No. 10 doesn't have somebody to pick up the post and nip it next door if necessary.

What an unexpected educational opportunity .

The legal position is that Boris lives at no 11 Dowining Street (or Chequers). The claim was served at no.10 Downing Street where he does not live. Judgment will therefore be set aside.

But then the claim will have to be defended after the set-aside which is the interesting part

I also find it hard to believe that any potential Letter of Claim was not received, the claim form was not received, and the Default Judgment (CCJ) was not received or returned/dealt with either!

Three opportunities missed seven months ago.

Maybe Larry the Cat's job hangs in the balance tonight

So the Claimant has finally been named tonight as Yvonne Hobbs who has apparently pleaded "Committed repeated defamation" according to the Daily Mail (the newspaper who trained me as a journalist so maybe fact-check the story for yourselves )

It's not the first time she's issued a claim for defamation against Boris allegedly (as Private Eye would say).

This means it's not a consumer credit debt claim but nevertheless interesting.

Interesting point because although he lives in the flat above No11 , his official residence is 10 Downing St.

I think the overall legal issue will be not the wrong address but the wrong court - defamation cases/claims should be in the High Court not Money Claims Online (County Court).

According to the press (so it must be true ) his legal team will make an application to set aside the Default Judgment (CCJ) and strike out the claim for being started in the wrong court. There's no mention of the claim having no merit, just that it was in the wrong place.

                          We'll see.

                            That was quick!

Default Judgment set aside and claim struck out within less than 24 hours of it being made public.

An ordinary member of the public would have to wait months to get before a judge to have a strike out application heard.

And you wonder why avatar is a Karl Marx quote? Sadly the man on the clapham omnibus still vote for crooks, liars and adulterers thinking their opinion counts.
