    Re: Charlie's UE Diary

Thank you cymruambyth. The balance is sadly more than 0. I just need to get past the next 6 months. I was in such a state 5 and half years ago and I never believed I would get through this. I have learned so much and not just about debt....in fact that has only been a small part of my AAD journey. I can never thank you guys enough.

Yeah! I remember a good few names from when Niddy first started. I guess we continue to plod and hold hands till we get there and then its a matter of giving others the confidence to achieve a good outcome.

It certainly is charlie. Support and reassurance for newbies from members who have been through it is invaluable.

              Re: Charlie's UE Diary

Just a quick update.... I received two letters different dates arrived the same day. Once again asking if I would like to make an arrangement to pay. Thats 5 letters in as many weeks. As I haven't yet been threatened with any sort of action I am going to bide my time and see what comes next. So 5 letters and all just saying they would like to help me. Oh and that they have checked and know that I am living at the said address. I suspect that the said check is linked with using a so called free personal file credit check agency. I have had 2 credit checks done in the last 6 months (for moving house/letting agent) and within weeks of the second one I was contacted by the DRA. I suspect that when a couple of flags are raised then the so called Free check company sell the information. Something in the small print no doubt. So nothing is for free and MrsD did pass on good advice and I vaguely remember Niddy giving a warning re so called FREE agencies a few years back ? It seems nothing is FREE except the great advice and support on AAD.....I should of listened. Humble apologies! Lesson learned albeit a tad late for me.

                    Re: Charlie's UE Diary

As a couple more months have passed I thought I would give an update.......Well at first I was getting a letter a week( slightly less than a week) then a little longer and now its been about 3 weeks. The letters just ask me to get in touch as they want to help me clear a debt. If I don't then they may tell the credit reference agency and it could make it difficult for me to obtain credit.
I have not responded once. Just about now is 6 years so in the next month or so it will be SB. So just a few more months and I have got through this.
6 years ago I was desperate, just as we all are when we start this journey. I found Niddy and Niddy found his helpers and without their support I would never of survived this with my sanity intact.
So for anyone that knocks this site......It is more than a sharing of information, advice and experiences. For most people coming here for the first time it is a lifeline. None of us intended for our lives to take the turns it did that put us in these situations but with sharing, empathy, compassion and understanding, AAD and its wonderful team go beyond benevolent with there non judgemental attitude. I can never thank you all enough for your support over the last 6 years. Thank You!

                          Re: Charlie's UE Diary

                          Hi All,
I thought I would pop in and say hello and update. The last few months logging in has been extremely difficult. I constantly get that the site is busy and try again later. Then trying another link I get site is down for maintenance we will be back in January 2016 but a link at the bottom for the forum. This is the only way I can get in.
Hey! I am here now.....Well I thought I would tell you just how persistent and sneaky these debt collection agencies are etc...its no secret that we all try to keep our heads down re credit reference agencies etc and yes I do believe the so called free agencies sell on information when we activate our account some how.
Well my latest update is:- My husband passed away earlier this year, we hadn't been living together for over 12 months. He died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 52 but thats another story. Anyway after death he didn't pay a bill, typical lol.
Now I have never changed my surname the whole time I was married so no obvious link. It seems a debt collection agency knocked his door for the sum of £150 but they were informed he was dead. They acquired a death certificate for proof (legally anyone can so I am told) this had me down as wife/widow and my address. Within a week I received a letter asking if I was the person they were looking for and an address from 5 years ago. I have not responded but will wait and see what they do next. This is not in connection with my husbands £150 debt as the have had to write that off. It just goes to show what extremes these pesky collection agencies will go to.
My debts are SB by 5 months and in a couple of months time they will drop from my credit file.
I found Niddy nearly 6 and a half years ago and that man kept me sane with his pragmatic and wise words.
Thank you for starting AAD and thank you everyone of you for giving your time so freely to help us....Thank You.

They really are sneaky barstewards At least with the debts being so old they are going to have a big problem after all their detective work!! Only thing thet may be worth checking at some point if you have not been on a credit reference agency site (through trust online) is that they did not get a sneaky CCJ that you are unaware of, obviously if you have seen your credit reference file and its not there you are pretty safethough. Congratulations on attaining the magic SB ststus
