    Re: Charlie's UE Diary

    Hi everyone!
I do hope a Happy Christmas was had by all.

Well I would love to say that I have heard nothing re debts.
I have had a quick look through other diaries and it seems more than a few of us get tracked down when we are close to SB.
I have a Lloyds TSB debt.....
I have recently received a letter from Cabot and looking at my credit file it seems that they have owned it for a few years but I have never heard from them before now but I have moved home twice in 3 years so they could of sent post to previous addresses.
So I have a letter from Cabot saying "we have recently confirmed that you are living at the above address so we need to make you aware of the information below"
They go on to say they bought the account held with lloyds tsb and now responsible for helping me manage my account.
Next steps and what you should do now.....they have helped thousands of customers each month and now they would like to help me.
The letter is dated 12th of December. I have not responded.

          Re: Charlie's UE Diary

that's what i would do Charlie, Nanna is right, sounds like they are doing a bit of phishing. DON'T rush to look at your credit file though, every time you do that, you wave a big flag saying "HELLO" and you'd be better being a little more circumspect............

          Happy New Year!!!

Is the Lloyds one by any chance held by Marlin Europe 11 Ltd? Mine is, and Robinson Way are chasing? Let us know who actually "owns" the account.

                Re: Charlie's UE Diary

The letter says Cabot financial and the previous owner Marlin Europe.
Mrs D I don't understand how checking credit file raises a red flag to anyone? Plus if my file is checked by a debt collection company that owns the account isn't there a trace on my file to say they checked ?
I am confused as to who I am saying hello to by checking it. Is there something I am missing ?

All I know Charlie is it raises yourself up ,so I've kept my head down and never checked or applied for anything since my journey began. This is my opinion, It works for me to keep a low profile.xxxx

                    Re: Charlie's UE Diary

Thank you Nanna58 and Mrs D........ I think I may of raised a red flag by moving house and a credit check done for the purpose of. I have indeed kept below the radar for some time but unfortunately I moved house and I believe that may of been the red flag for credit reference companies to make some money.
It was a necessary evil I guess.
Hopefully I can drag this out for 6 months and reach SB status.
I am so grateful to AAD for getting this far and feeling some what sane again, as when I started this journey I felt far from sane.
I have nothing but admiration for the AAD team. Thank You! to you all

we moved house with around 6 months to go and have managed everything, just don't jump too fast to get on the voters lists and use a redirect for your mail, we did it so no reason why you shouldn't

                        Re: Charlie's UE Diary

MrsD that's excellent advice but unfortunately I have to be DSB checked due to the work I do so for me it's a catch 22 situation. However, I have been as secretive as possible where DCA are concerned.
I had little choice re recent credit checks but hey ho! I just need to get thru the next 6-7 months with this one.
I also had the local council knock my door asking why I hadn't registered for voting etc. It's difficult renting as rental agents now pass details onto allsorts of people..... Utilities, local council, insurance.... I guess it makes it more difficult for people to hide.I don't think it's aimed at people with apparent debt but more the undesirables up to no good.
I am in this situation so I will just have to deal with what comes next.

                          Re: Charlie's UE Diary

You will be fine, just come back and let us know if you get anymore letters. Not that long to go at all. We've got members who have managed to keep under the radar and live a life for over 6 years, so definitely doable.

Just be wary of who you give your phone number to and your details to. I never give anyone the correct phone number.

Just a quick update......yesterday I received a statement of account and today I received a letter saying they would like to help me make positive steps towards repaying my balance.
I am thinking......No response yet and see how long it takes for the next and what it suggests ? My rationale is, if Lloyds could not produce the info they they surely can not ?

Yes, just ignore, unless their positive steps include you paying £0! The annual statement is a legal requirement.
