With a Decree??? (so you're in Scotland then yes?)...? I would have thought that all IFA Regulation was that staff should be credit searched - bad credit is against the rules to be an IFA isn't it? Unless you're in an unregulated post, ie bank counter staff or similar? But if you're giving financial advice, and have a CCJ then i'd be worrying about your employer as they should not be offering you a job based on that (sorry but it's one of the main reasons for refusal) - kinda like letting a Gary Glitter run social services!

Nah, don't use such firms, come here and do it yourself for free and with great personal satisfaction when you kick ass!

Is the business still live or now defunct?

But yes, as they are after 2007 then it's best to keep them separate.....

Does make life difficult! But the FSA fit and proper regs are like everything else the FSA does and very much open to interpretation. Most employed Mortgage Broker or IFA roles are out of bounds, but being self-employed, even as an AR or RI (which is what I am just now), I've found as long as you are upfront and completely honest about the circumstances then it is possible to trade as a mortgage broker. In fact, my current role lets me do recruitment for a mortgage broker firm and so far we've taken on one adviser mid-way through a trust deed and one who's just been discharged bankrupt (as well as me on the DMP). I'm in the process of recruiting another with defaults who was the guy that told me about this site. My new jobs not an advisory role, but still regulated and all they want to know is that there are payments being made to the decree...

Wow, no offence to you mate - none whatsoever, but now you know why our financial services is a freaking joke!

I would hit the roof if I knew my mortgage broker had a CCJ - absolutely so! Sorry but in my mind, as I said earlier, it's like allowing Gary Glitter to run children's services with Fred & Rosemary West as taxi drivers.....

Anyway, no offence intended and another totally different discussion lol - but still. Glad you have got some work, thats a good thing for you.

Lol - no offence at all! It doesn't affect my ability to do my job - in fact I would say it has changed the way I advice mortgage clients for the better as I wouldn't want anyone else going through this. You'd be surprised how many people working in financial services have some sort of debt issue, but what really annoys me is the number of FS firms that have gone bust, leaving the advisers to bear the brunt, only for the directors to land a nice new role elsehwere or set up a new company... The CEO of the bank I worked for, despite bringing it andthe UK banking system to its knees and making throusands of workers redundant, managed to sell all his shares in the company just before it went into melt-down without any kind of investigation and now has a job paying way more than he earned with N******* *ock.... Not that I'm bitter or anything )

Just had the first reply to my CCA requests from Robinson Way for Lloyds TSB credit card - but all they did was send back my letter, cheque and envelop with no covering letter, comp slip - nothing! The only way I knew it was from them was because they returned my envelope too... Should I just resend?

Thanks - done that. Maybe they were just sneakily trying to get my signature by returning it to me using signed-for mail...

I've had that before so I developed a second signature. Actually it is nothing more than a scrawl and the postman knows me so he doesn't question it. I keep waiting for a document to come back with my scrawl signature on it; nothing yet but I wouldn't be surprised!
Some days you're the pigeon, some days you're the statue. I currently spend too many days as the statue......but thanks to this site not as many as I used to!
