we normally say 6 years + 1 month but if you can last a bit longer all the better, it allows for any Comical Recurring Accounting Processing, that may happen, x NW

Link have sent me a letter asking me to call them in relation to the o/s sum £7k+ nothing threatening but state ignoring this debt will not make it go away. Ifg I require independent advice etc etc

This was purchased by Link from GE and was originally a car loan, (not secured on vehicle and long since sold)

Last payment was April 2010 so it's SB now.

Just after a bit of general advice on the SB situation re this and others I have. Do I just continue to ignore unless they start getting heavy, or do I send some form of letter telling them to do one ?

          Thx as always

            • Hi everyone
Long time no see. Well as you can see it's been very quiet for me until recently but a lots happened.
I had a OOHCA in Aug 2023 which I luckily survived, I moved house in Jan 2024 (was already in the peipeline) and not had much in the way of contact with my (now) unenforceble debts. I went back to the old house in April 2024 to pick up any post and our house sale completed later that year. All seemed quiet until sept when an old MBNA debt from 2003 which was sold to 1st credit in 2005 which I batted off with the help of Niddy, the last letter from them was in 2016 refuting my dispute and still offering discounts.
Fast forward to Sept this year and a letter from Intrum saying they had purchased the debt from MBNA and they were appointing Resolvecall to chase payment. Resolvecall sent me a letter and said they would make a house call . (both letters were at my new address so must have found me on the electroral roll) I ignored them but they visited on the 30th but my daughter answered the door and said I didnt live there (we live downstairs) they told her they would delete me from their records and not send any more letters. My wife who has my old phone number today received a message from Resolvecall who somehow must have my old phone number on their records asking me to contact them. Wife blocked them.

This surely must be unenforceable by now but is for a large sum so wanted to cover all bases with what to do.

              Thanks for any advice

              • Hi lookingforward
So no contact for approx 9yrs? has to be time barred by now, if its for a large sum as you say, they will just be trying to catch you out.
hoping you will contact them, ignore the blighters, and if they up the pace with the silly letters etc, then you can always send them the statute barred letter if need be . ignore ignore ignore would be my strategy let them flog the dead horse

Thanks, that was I was thinking, but obviously they've only just purchased the debt so i'm a bit nervous, it had previously been purchased by 1st credit from MBNA

                  • The fact they actually did visit the house, not just threatened it, then followed up with a text. The previous owners 1st credit and their DCA's never followed through, has the tactics changed since I've been away.
I always stressed before about these various "people" but since my cardiac arrest getting contact is the last thing I need but I'll follow your advice. If texts are now blocked and they have deleted my address, I just worry they will go straight to court as their only option. I know I could fight that but really dont want to be dealing with any court stuff.

Where is the statute barred templete on the site nowadays ?

                      Hi looking forward
yes people turning up can be a bit stressful, thats the point of them doing it, hoping you will cave in, resolvecall was my visitors easy meat tho, you will find all the revelant letters in the AAD+ SECTION you will have to renew your subscription for access, tho well worth it Take care and please dont stress over these cretins

                      • Just had a call from mortimer clarke solicitors which I didnt answer and they left a message for me to contact them. Obviously not going to do that. I'm assuming this is for the same alleged debt with MBNA which as resolvecall or now supposed to be taking my details off their system follwoing their visit and now my wife has now blocked their number. However as stated in an earlier post , they had my old phone number, so this may be for another old debt (they are all crawling out of the woodwork since my house move woke them up) Anyway at the moment I'm ignoring everything for now at least
