That's great news. The important (and significant) thing is that when challenged on that they back down.
Sad to think how many people who aren't on here will fall for their rubbish. They really shouldn't get away with misleading people based on unproven wishful thinking.

    Update

I got a letter from Lowells/Freds saying that my co op account is SB and they have passed it back to Lowells. Cheeky buggers did try to say the default date was the one on the credit reference agency. Niddy' letter set them straight, though. They are saying the default date is when the 6 years start as standard now. Vey misleading. Lets hope I don't hear from those clowns again.

Thank you, Niddy and all the team at allaboutdebt.

    Hi

Got a letter from Lowells offering a 75% reduction on an old barclaycard debt. They have passed this one from pilar to post. Its SB and I have have a new Bcard since 2013. Shall I just ignore?

    Thank you

Sorry Niddy. I get so anxious when these letters come through! I'd forgotten about these as well. My mum will be paying it if it comes to it. It's her fault not mine

I will get these sent off. Thanks again.

Jesus - chill, you only posted yesterday!!

Just send this to Hamptons --> http://www.all-about-debt.co.uk/inde...-debt-prove-it

At this stage do not make an offer..... send the above and see what they do, from there an offer can be made if necessary.

Plan B, it was a contract in my name but I gave the phone to my mother who simply could not be bothered to pay. I just want to settle this because dont want to have to get a claim or worse a ccj. She has the money to settle.

Was there a reason for her non-payment which may help with your negotiations, such as a faulty handset returned or something/anything which may have given her a good reason to dispute/cancel the contract?
