ombudsman news gives general information on the position at the date of publication. It is not a definitive statement of the law, our approach or our procedure.

The illustrative case studies are based broadly on real-life cases, but are not precedents. Individual cases are decided on their own facts.
            Nothing real about them?

You would expect them to change them a bit for privacy reasons, but they are not "mock ups" without "anything real" about them.

                Ahhh - based on.

Ever watch the Krays, Escape from Alcatraz, Pappilon?

All were "based on true events" but were nothing like the real events. They were edited for the public as are the FOS cases.

                    Not a very good comparison.

Those would have been radically changed purely for entertainment.

These will have retained the essential elements and principles required to render an example meaningful.

Say what you like, they haven't just "made them up" as you claim.

                              Not the other 2.

                              I really should have done.

Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman was papillon and clinty was in escape from alcatraz.

                                Both awesome films

Although for true life events, Billy's case in Midnight Express was best. Another awesome film/story.
