To be honest guys, and with the FCA having balls unlike its predecessor, if a doorstep collector turns up just ignore the door or answer and tell them to go away and not come back then close the door. If they try and stop you just tell them you'll call the police and also report them to their firm with a formal FCA complaint too. * remember look for a visible ID badge / ask for ID before doing anything so you can take a photo (for your records).
Theyll soon bugger off. Just stay calm but make sure, if possible, when one knocks that you have your phone handy and video it. They'll soon play by the book. If they say you can't record just laugh and suggest they seek legal advice, after they've removed themselves from your property. You'll be fine.

As everyone else has said already, these people have no powers whatsoever, although I do appreciate that it is not a pleasant experience. My advice would be to keep calm and dignified (even if you are shaking inside, don't let them see it) and look them straight in the eye and tell them that the account is "in dispute". My main thought was that it improved my7 "street cred" on here and how I could come on here and share it with all my friends on here.
