    As I know this is going to be a difficult one, I emailed the FLA back last week, as they now have my complaint, and I said that I wanted to contact the underwriter as well, and wanted to make sure it won't be a problem.........

    So here is the response received this morning.....

    Dear

    The FLA has no problem with you contacting the insurers whilst your complaint is being dealt with.

          Not got round to writing the draft letter yet, we had unexpected visitors, so will try getting onto this hopefully tomorrow (Weds) with a bit of luck.

          Have you also checked out some info I researched about underwriters/insurers responsibilities?

              Well well well, it just shows it does work via underwriter, of course you have to make sure you word your letter of complaint correctly.....

              Reclaim upheld by Underwriter/Genworth.
              I would just like to confirm that in regards of a rejection from Santander via GE cap one, an account opened from 1997 until 2005, FLA also rejected, as their letter arrived today, and at the same time as Genworth Financial, who is the underwriter/insurer of GE Cap bank.

              Very chuffed, and as this was not long rejected by Santander, it only taken a matter of a few weeks (2) with the underwriter.
              Full refund with interest too.

                Well done you.

                It certainly is something that takes patience and from what my own experience is alot of checking.

                This industry is a bunch of slimeballs but the consumer still thinks what they are told is gospel.

                We are still getting ripped off. For every success there is you can bet there are many many many who fail.

                Once again to the banks its a numbers game. Fob the majority off and they have still won.

                  This will as well give hope to others in the same position on older accounts, where bank/business were not FSA regulated, where the underwriter/insurer is highly likely to be.

                    Defo is good news as there defo seemed to be a log jam of claims with Santandar/GE Money accounts.

                    I am just glad that when my SAR came back from Santandar there was no PPI as wasnt looking forward to that as a reclaim.

                            I told them that the FOS said we had a right to request for the details/address of the underwriter and they sent the details in the post. x

                            Hmmmm, did you actually write to their data protection unit? (SAR)?

                                I didnt question the complaints dept about the SAR, but when i made the complaint, the letter was sent off to the data protection unit at the same time, and I did receive some relevant information, despite the fact they said they couldn't track anything down (due to time lapsing). x
