    This one is very strange too, and don't think they know what they doing, well what a surprise lol!

    Letter arrived today from complaints, now saying they they will be in touch with an update of the complaint within 4 weeks!

    I am now wondering if it's because they do now realise they can find the data on the account??

      This is yet another later arrival of a SAR, so received a letter to apologise and they will be refunding the £10 fee.

      Some SAR paperwork arrived in a separate envelope, and enclosed some details but not a lot to go by, yet they do seem to know how much of the insurance was applied, to this actual account number because they confirmed the amount on the SAR info, yet they did not supply the breakdown to confirm it, they must have details of it or they would not have confirmed it.

      They also enclosed some paperwork of other accounts, such as another 2 of BQ store cards, taken out in 2006.
      Not a lot of details, so I will be contacting BQ about this separately, see if they still hold anything.

        Di, it seems to me that these companies are just ignoring time limits on SAR's and telling us whatever they like, it is only when pushed that they manage to find a little more information, it makes you mad.

          Despite them sending what they did hold in the data protection unit, they apologised for the delay and written out a cheque of the £10 fee paid for the inconvenience caused. It arrived today.

            Even though I don't really want to go the direction of the FLA, it's decided to forward the details anyway, so at least they can be ruled out, then to move on to the underwriter.

            To what I am aware of, the FLA should let us know within a week, especially if its a refusal to have it looked at further, that gives me a chance to sort out the paperwork to pursue the underwriter, so for instance, if I complain to the FOS about the underwriter, I can let them know the same time it was also refused by the FLA, as they may otherwise suggest it.

              Will be keeping an eye on this one re my ge/endeavour issue.

              I haven't done anymore since GE claimed time barred as I thought the FLA were toothless, so be interesting to see what they come up with and also what you say to the insurer.

                I researched the underwriter/insurer and for the year this account was taken out, they were Financial insurance company (FIC)/Genworth.

                To save me looking back at the mo, do you know who the underwriter was in your case? xx

                  Mine was BFC Insurance Ltd based in Dublin.Doesn't say anything about them being regulated on the paperwork, however under the customer care section it states I can write to the CEO and then to the Insurance Ombudsman Bureau (IOB) or alternatively the Assoc of British Insurers (ABI).

                    a few companies are based in Ireland (Dublin etc) and have a company registered in the U.K. so are covered by FSA Regs, i.e. I found Quinn Insurance of Ireland (in U.K. is Liberty Insurance) any claims paid out by the Bank of Ireland are issued in Innerskillin if I remember correctly, in the North of Ireland. this was found out due to car Insurance claim against one of their customers, I was treated very well and quick by their staff, was very inmpressed.

                          Thank you for providing all the information I need to locate your complaint details on our system . Your FLA complaint form was received at our offices on the 9 October 2012. As previously advised we have large back-log at the moment and are trying to process all complaints as quickly as possible.

                            Never known an industry with such appalling customer care.

                            If this was a retailer or the like then consumer perception would damage the company too much. The consumer would vote with their feet.

                            In this industry it appears good service in any part of it the banks,FOS, ICO,FLA is just lip service. They just dont care. If they have a backlog because the industry is totally bent then employ more staff to clear the backlog. It aint as if this is a problem that appeared 2 weeks ago. Its been ongoing for a few years now and they still dont turn it around.

                            If the FLA didnt see a wave of storecards about to hit them then they must be deluded.

                            The puppeteers in parliment cant even see that the so called laws they say are there to protect us are being shown for what they are by their masters the finance industry.

                            Heres hoping you can batter them before I get there with my complaint.

                            Whats that oh yes I am on my second failed SAR with Santander so as the great Capt Oates once said " I maybe gone sometime"

                              The problem is that so many of the puppeteers in parliament just dance to the tune that these organisations play, lets face it a lot of them have become multi millionaires because of the finance industry - wouldn't do to upset it now would it?
