  • CCJ REMOVAL

Hello there, I've recently been looking at CCJ removal. There seems to be fairly convincing social proof that this is possible.

It appears to work thus: You take on a solictor who specialises and they negotate with the CCJ issuer, explaining you were out of the country or ill or working away or something (whatever the reason, you need to have proof) and you agree a settlement for the amount of the CCJ, I have been lead to believe this COULD be in the region of 50%.

You only pay this when you see the CCJ has gone off your credit report. The solicitor fees I have seen are in the region of £200 to £700.

    What does the team think?

Not sure what you mean by "social proof" ??

Is this a theoretical question, or do you have a CCJ and a good, actual, reason to try to challenge it? If so, please give some detail of how it came about.

As I understand it, there are certain circumstances where a CCJ can be challenged (at court), but that is to have it struck out, not to negotiate some settlement.

Edit: I note from another post which you made recently, that you are already in touch with Joanna Connolly Solicitors. Have you asked them about this? They would know more than we consumers here.

Thanks, by social proof I meant a fair amount of pretty genuine-looking reviews https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/tre...w.co.uk?page=2

The pitch from Treadstone was indeed to challenge, but did include some sort of expectation management that I'd have to pay some of the outstanding amount.

The wonderful people at JC are working on something else for me as we speak and I wouldn't want to bother them with this just now. I'm cynical about this being a good idea / looking for a reson to write it off as a bad idea. Thanks for your response.
