    Re: DWP hassle

Hi Pixie, hope all is good with you !!
The attitude of the DWP has been unreal....even after supplying them proof that it was not my debt, they took the attitude that there was no reason to pay any compensation as they were of the opinion that I had not suffered any hardship. Taking two days worth of food money out of my benefits every week, numerous letters, telephone calls, walks to and from the job center, doing their job for them along with the hassle and stress of it all is no hardship, apparently.
It was the job center management that eventually sorted it out and got me a refund and they are of the opinion that yes,the DWP were following instructions supplied in error BUT.....they should have checked their facts when I raised questions....so they can't just pass the buck and wiggle out of their responsibilities.
It is obviously now being dealt with by a separate department that is not communicating with the original department, surprise surprise. I can't see why,now they have set a dca on me,that there is any reason that I should not pursue them for a fair chunk of Wonga as compensation using a solicitor....and the dca as well if they ignore the last warning letter that I am sending today....with the £50 letter writing charges as well !
Will update as it happens !!

I agree with you. I don't see why you can't charge them for writing leters and claim compensation. There was absolutely no need for them to set a dca on to you when you hadn't done anything wrong...and they knew you hadn't.
