I would just wait and see what comes next, they may dig themselves deeper

Is it time for a letter to the DFT do you think?

Yep. What is acceptable as a trace letter was agreed between the OFT and CSA a wile back.

While this Debt Managers one clearly uses it as a base, the subtle threats that they will pursue you if you don't reply SHOULD NOT be in it.

That's what my experience of them seems to suggest. I've had them chasing me for 2 UE CC debts; Barclaycard in 2010 and MBNA in 2012 (started UE for both of them on the same day)

I had a few letters from them regarding the Barclaycard debt but it's been passed on to 2 other dcas since. With the MBNA debt I haven't heard anything since I sent the Account Sold Whilst In Dispute template. I've never had a visit from them either.

I agree with Rizzle that presuming that you're the debtor if you don't reply is totally unacceptable.

I'd just file it away and see if they send anything else.

Don't respond to it, but do file it away as it may be useful in future complaints.

More specifically, it is this bit that is out of order.

"If we do not receive a response to this letter within 7 days. we will assume the link is correct and further communication will be made."

The rest is a standard trace letter that the OFT would very likely not object to.

It is the presumption that no reply = you are the debtor which is unacceptable.

Well done on your result, nightwatch.

"PLOP" is likely to be a highly appropriate word.
