      Result Result!
When Gold isn't enough, there is SA Gold! New to the forum and find the UE route a bit scary? Take a look at my diary here and judge for yourself. I am now saving the money each month that was making little difference to the balance and not a bit of difference to my credit file as a result of finding AAD.

          That's one lot seen off.

Wouldn't it have been nice, though, if they had managed to work out which gender you were, given that they have presumably been sending endless letters addressed to "Mr. ...."?

I suppose you can't expect ultra-fast paced learning of such complex data.

Ermm, no - that isn't how it works actually. Who do they think they are! The cheeky bastards! I would go back at them with something as follows:

              Dear Sirs,

              Ref: xxxxxxxx

I write with reference to previous correspondence and in particular to your letter dated xx/xx/2013.

I quite clearly told you in my previous letter (dated xx/xx/2013) that this was a statute barred account and the simple fact you hassled me for so long and with early morning phone calls means I am not as prepared to just walk away from things as bluntly as you may be. I am disgusted at your attitude, treatment and harassing general nature and as per my last letter, I expect an offer of recompense to be forthcoming. Failure will result in a formal complaint being made to the Financial Ombudsman which as you know full well, will set you back a £500 mediation fee regardless of whether they find in my favour or not.

You were writing to me citing all kinds of stuff and threats which actually scared the life out of me and really affected me until I spoke to someone that knows the legal parameters who confirmed that you are actually in breach because of your harassment on a statute barred account. You are supposed to do your own checks prior to writing to me, let alone purchasing the account, yet clearly you never or you'd have seen there have been no payments into this for well over 6 years now. You basically bullied me and lied to me to get me to pay into this even though legally, I do not need to as it is Statute Barred.

I look forward to your imminent reply and offer of compensation prior to my formalising matters with the Ombudsman.

              Yours faithfully,

I've just been speaking to a mortgage advisor and the guy on the phone reckons that even after 6 years an unsatisfied debt will still be visible to potential lenders and will therefore continue to affect my ability to get a mortgage. Is this right?

One might argue that it would be "right", but I doubt that the fellow was even approximately accurate.

How many years into the past does your credit history extend?

My credit record as shown by Noddle and Equifax extends to six years back. There is a default that occurred 6 years to the day that is still on there and I wait with baited breath to see when it goes from MY view, what I'd like to know is if it disappears from everyone's view or do I have to satisfy these things?
