Hi, a friend has received a threatening letter from Resolvecall regarding a debt of over £10k. He has had debt problems in the past but doesn't recognise this amount as being one of his. The debts he had in the past became unenforceable at least 8 years ago as far as he knows and he hasn't been paying towards any debts. This seems like harassment but he is understandably cautious about how to proceed and is terrified someone will visit his house in front of the kids. They've sent a letter threatening to go to the house within seven days. What's the best way to proceed? It's related to a well known high street bank who he still banks with and has not had any problems with. Should he contact them?

With respect, I think we usually ask people seeking help to register and ask for themselves. That way they are best placed to provide any relevant information, rather than have possible misleading info conveyed through a third party.
