Far from being put off, i was kinda hoping some light would be shed on the subject, and would like to thank everyone for there imput. I have posted letter off today. Im guessing as long as i keep paying something until they agree to a regular payment the better if it ever went to court?

If you have a figure you have offered in writing, you don't want to supply an I&E and so they won't accept it, by far your best way forward is to pay that figure, regardless of what they say, andlet them do whatever they intend doing, if anything. You have the moral high ground which is where you want to be.
