Re: Default has been 're-defaulted' by Marlin

Quick update. Received an email from Equifax today assigning a tracking number for my complaint and stating that they have contacted the company involved to examine their data. Given that Marlin bought the debt from Wescot who bought the debt from Egg/Barclaycard then I imagine they'll claim some bull**** but we shall wait and see.

Hate the waiting game especially when I know the companies are in the wrong.
      Many thanks,

Re: Default has been 're-defaulted' by Marlin

How bizarre, just had a response from Experian too. They make little or no reference to my original email claiming I don't have an up to date Credit File despite me having a Statutory Report from a couple of weeks ago. The email from them just seemed to be an advert to get me to sign up to their membership scheme. I have now responded stating that they refer back to my original email and deal with this as a matter of urgency before I report them to the ICO.

Time to wait and see what they do.
        Many thanks,

        Dave

Re: Default has been 're-defaulted' by Marlin

OK, so Experian sent an email with no help so I responded rather irately and now have had this response:

          *Defaulted Account

I am really sorry you are not happy with the previous email you received. Our intention is not to force you to sign up but it is a way of seeing your up to date credit report.

As you have said, you have seen a statutory report from June and you have seen your Marlin Financial account has been defaulted. This default will be on this account because it is mirroring the original account and if that was defaulted this would be why the Marlin account is too.

The default dates should be the same and whine a lender searches your report, they will be able to see that this is the same default as your original account.

I hope this information helps you, and please let me know if there?s anything else you?d like clarified.

As they have admitted that it is incorrect but yet make no suggestion of removing it I presume I should reply and tell them it MUST be removed?
          Many thanks,

          Dave

The default date is not the same as the original though.

That one was 2004. This one is 2011.

Seems that person from Experian is too dim to grasp what you are telling them.

So I take it, send ANOTHER email and threaten ICO action if they don't get off their backsides and remove it?

At least Equifax are looking into removing it.

OK so I have now sent 2 emails to the Experian Customer Relations team this week and yet to hear back from either. Just how incompetent are they with their customer service? If you pay £14.99 a month for their unnecessary 'service' then I am sure they'll be more helpful but I refuse to do so!!!!
                Many thanks,

OK. Email received from Customer Services in relation to an email I sent a week ago to Customer Relations stating that they are sorry to hear about my complaint and will pass it on to Customer Relations team!!! WTF are they playing at? These people are in charge of our Credit Files??? No wonder there are mistakes and problems with them.
                  Many thanks,

                  Dave

WOO HOO!!!! Good news. After 7 rather sh***y emails to Experian I have had a reply from them saying that Marlin have agreed that the entry should be removed and also the entry saying I am disputing it will be removed, both within the next 7 days.

Hopefully that will mean Equifax will remove it. Are there many other companies that hold Credit File details that I will need to ask to remove the details?

Thanks as always to the help on here. You are a fantastic bunch of people.
                      Many thanks,

Cheers, I'll have a check. Still waiting on Equifax to get back to me but given the result with Experian and I am sure they'll end up doing the same.

Many thanks to everyone else too. Fingers crossed!
