Just wondering what people’s thoughts are about Coronavirus and the impact it will have on DCAs. Are they at risk of closing, will they have the infrastructure to cope with any absences, are they actually allowed to be open at the moment etc etc

they are not a vital service, can't see how they can work from home, as they would be violating the DPA if staff were allowed to take information about "client's" home

so we may well have a bit of Hush.

It would be a shame if a few accounts become statute barred because of an enforced closure

this is what I was thinking, there could be all manner of things that could happen. Hopefully all collection activity will be placed on hold for the foreseeable future.

Well look at the Prime Ministers small print about going out and what you can or cannot do! Where are DCA's mentioned?

It should be obvious that with many people losing their livelihood and no doubt unable to pay creditors what impact will this have on perhaps 1 millions and their Credit Status's.
The Original Creditor has written off the Debt and this will have been set off against their Tax.
If the DCA's can't recoup their pennies in the pound outlay!
Then they will be making substantial LOSSES won't they on ever debt purchased!

Just out of curiosity does anybody know how this will impact on current court claims?

They will probably still be operating with staff working remotely from home.

Door step visits are definitely a no no though

This makes me think that they might be open to very small F&F offers (i know you are going to say offer nothing Rog )

No what you do is whatever is right for you! Nobody on AAD thinks F&F is wrong.
My thinking is not pay anything because obviously we must be very prudent with whatever monies/food/necessity's so Debts rank very low at this time.
I also think that DCA'S will have to rapidly start rethinking because if you buy a lame racehorse!! clearly you or onto a loser aren't you?
There is a real irony here because the Government needs the economy working and they already have deferred rents/tax etc.. So I think they will have to look very seriously at current debts (and especially if these have been written off) because half the population globally is likely to be heavily in debt the longer this crisis goes on!!

My thinking is let them come with offers rather than you approaching them!

I agree with Roger - do nothing at present and wait and see how this pans out economically.

On another note I have received 2 letters from 2 separate DC.s yesterday and today so they may just be upping their game!

Seems not even a world health crisis can keep the vultures from circling.

The vultures may be circling, but if there are only scattered bones, they to will starve

I can confirm that Intrum still have an automated telephone calling system in operation.
what we needed was not a human virus but Computer virus pandemic that could wipe hardrives and severs- just dreaming!!

They can ask BUT they cannot change the current fact that ESSENTIAL's apply.
Rationing of food, massive financial assistance, stay at home!
A stale second hand Debt (where perhaps Tax relief has been given to the Original Creditor) isn't Essential!
