  • Help with claimed debt from Link - 'representatives will visit...'

    Hi all,

I have contact from Link saying they will visit at home unless I make contact and hope for some advice please as to how to proceed. The details are:
    • Card issuer: Egg
    • Debt: £6k
    • Previously part of StepChange IVA but exited this 5-6 years ago (maybe more)
    • Section 78 Agreement Request: Made in 2022 to which Moorcroft (acting at the time) referred back to a 2017 request where they provided a poor copy of the T&C's - they only provided short form cancellation and Historic T&C - none of which contain any personalised information nor signature
    • No further payment made since the end of the IVA
    • Very occasional statements received since
Can I please ask what should happen now - they have offered a 'substantial discount'. Should I make contact to avoid the home visit etc.

    Many thanks

A couple of times I have been told I would have a home visit and nobody was sent.

I did have one person come round and I told them to send me a letter and that was that.

If you have made no payment for 5 or 6 years you could be close to this being statute barred.

I agree with you. The threat of a visit is scare tactic bluff.

In my opinion ,for what is worth, sending the stock letter requesting no visit merely lets them know that they have caught a live one.
      Silence is golden!

Thanks all - so it looks like it is best to make no contact? Link advising Resolvecall will make the visit which I would like to avoid if possible.

In terms of last payment I think it would have been with my previous bank which I changed October 2019 so the 6-years is up in a few months. Perhaps this is a last ditch approach.
