Tell your bank you don’t want to receive sales calls and you’d expect to be left alone, but staff working at branches of Lloyds have claimed bosses ask them to call customers who have opted out of marketing calls to urge them to take out savings accounts. The bank justifies the practice by claiming the calls add value for customers – and ‘help them to manage their money better’ so qualify as service, rather than marketing calls. However, branch staff, who wished to stay anonymous, say they build sales points, known within the bank as ‘needs met,’ if customers move money from current into savings accounts.....Read more here
