than rivals - but families still face inflation-busting rise
The last two of the giant Big Six energy companies have now raised their prices although EDF Energy and E.On have sought to avoid the public backlash that has hit rivals with smaller increases. EDF Energy confirmed the price increase for its 2.4million customers this morning while reports gave details of a rise being planned by E.On, which the supplier has not denied. EDF announced a hike to average dual fuel bills of 3.9 per cent from January 3 next year, bringing the average bill up to £1,300 a year, while the E.On rise is thought to be 6.6 per cent, kicking in for its 4million customers in the new year and taking average bills £90 higher to £1,425......Read more here
