A ban from the advertising watchdog lifts the lid on the murky world of payday lending. FirstPayDayLoanUK is the latest payday lender to get its knuckles rapped by the Advertising Standards Authority. It has been banned from sending unsolicited texts that purported to be from "friends" who were out partying after having their bank balances topped up by the lender. The ASA quite rightly ruled it was irresponsible to suggest that these expensive short-term loans should be used to fund a social life. And it also expressed concern that the messages looked like personal ones, as opposed to marketing spam.
