Barclays last night confirmed it uses Deloitte to help process PPI complaints as the accountancy giant faces allegations it trained staff to stonewall customers and ignore fraud. Lloyds sacked Deloitte last month amid concerns raised by an internal investigation and an undercover report. The state-backed lender had recruited the firm to run its payment protection insurance complaints handling operation. But an undercover investigation by The Times newspaper revealed how consultants at Deloitte training new staff were taught to ‘play the system’ and turn a blind eye to the forgery of documents by salesmen. Barclays said it does use Deloitte to help process disputes, but the firm only performs administrative tasks and does not take evidence from customers or make decisions on complaints.....Read more here
