Consumers will be able to find out if claims management companies (CMCs) are under investigation following the launch of a new online tool by the regulator. The tool, via the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) website, will display what rules the CMCs have breached and any action taken, including minor offences, warnings, suspensions and cancellations. The Claims Management Regulator has already banned more than 100 payment protection insurance CMCs and a further 149 have been warned about poor practice. Last year, the regulator received over 10,000 complaints as consumers took issue with misleading marketing, high pressure selling poor complaints system and unclear fees across the compensation claims industry.
