British Bill of Rights report due to be published
A commission set up to examine the case for a British Bill of Rights is due to publish its findings. Recent newspaper reports suggest the commission, made up of legal experts appointed by David Cameron and Nick Clegg, struggled to reach a conclusion. The commission says any new bill would need to "incorporate and build on all our obligations under the European Convention on Human Rights". But one of its members quit in March after deciding it was a waste of time. Dr Michael Pinto-Duschinsky has said he resigned when it became "clear that the commission would barely discuss the prime minister's central concern", that decisions over such questions as whether prisoners should be allowed to vote were decided in Parliament and not the courts.....Read more here on this story: British Bill of Rights report due to be publishedTags: None
