The process of finding out about and claming for miss-sold payment protection insurance (PPI) is set to become easier. An investigation by Which? and Moneysavingexpert.com found variations in the quality and amount of information provided online on PPI by nine major high-street financial services providers. So far only £3.5bn of the £9bn, set aside to compensate for wrongly sold PPI has been given back to consumers. One of the biggest problems in claiming back the cash has been the different information given on website’s telling people how to complain about how PPI was sold. Now the leading banks have agreed to comply with most of a checklist, recommended by Which? and Moneysavingexpert.com, of information to be displayed online.
