Gamblers that pay for bets on their credit card to be hit by fee.
Barclaycard is to introduce charges on gamblers who use their credit card to pay for bets. Until now the card provider has treated gaming transactions as purchases. But from May 28 the transactions will be treated as cash. This means users will be charged a 2.99pc transaction fee (minimum £2.99) and then interest will accrue at the higher rate for cash withdrawals. It said this will include betting and lottery tickets. At the same time Barclaycard is increasing fees for cash withdrawals.
