Now you can get extra time off if you're sick on holiday under controversial new laws
Workers who fall ill during their holidays will be able to demand extra days off work under controversial new laws to be introduced later this year. The rules will mean that workers can demand extra paid holiday as compensation if they produce a sick note. But critics have described the legislation as a ‘malingerers’ charter’ and warned that unscrupulous staff could abuse the rules to simply demand more paid holidays from overstretched employers. And business leaders warned that the regulation may be detrimental to Britain’s economic recovery. Business Secretary Vince Cable will introduce the laws in October at an estimated cost of £100 million to British businesses.
