Fashion and homeware retailer Next mistakenly listed a pair of sofas worth £1,198 on its website for just £98 after a discount reduced the cost by £1,100 instead of the intended £100. Online bargain-hunters rushed to purchase the deal and even received confirmation emails with estimated delivery dates. The pricing error, which remained uncorrected for nearly six hours, was spotted by users of the Hotukdeals website.

It has now fixed the error. Users said that they had £98, plus delivery charges, debited from their bank accounts, leading those who managed to purchase the homeware to believe that they would be getting the 'deal of the century'. However, Next is set to disappoint them.
