Hard-pressed drivers facing expensive petrol costs and car insurance premiums that have risen to record highs, could be tempted into unscrupulous adverts offering cover for a much lower price, research has found. Fake brokers are popping up in their droves, advertising in shops, local newspapers and on websites, such as Gumtree, luring drivers – especially youngsters quoted high prices – in with deals which seemingly undercut genuine insurance firms and will save drivers money.
