I sent mine to Link and they responded with the CCA.

I would send it to whomever is writing to you. Don’t forget to include a cheque or postal order for £1.

Keep copies and when the annual statement comes make sure they have not taken the £1 of f the balance.

Tou could send a copy ( include copy of cheque) to LC with a note saying for your information. If you do just get a proof of posting.

Sorry I am a bit of a belt and braces person.

if Link bounce it back to you there is a letter in the AAD library or likely I have one somewhere. Moorcroft tried it on with me back in the day.

Being a bit dim, but presumably I send the CCA request to Link, or is it to LC Asset?... not the solicitor?

It’s been a year since the account was sold and with all the work involved with Barclays acquisition of Tesco bank they might not be too bothered about looking for it.

As we know, debts are sold with little detail.
If they can’t produce the CCA then hopefully they won’t issue a claim so get it posted asap. I have always used Royal Mail signed for but that doesn’t always show up as delivered. Special delivery is of course expensive.

Yes send a s.78 CCA request with certificate of posting. Would also be good to send a GPDR (Subject Access) request to Tesco.
Tesco are in the process of transferring all their loan, credit card and banking portfolios to Barclays Bank in October. This may have triggered the sudden contact.

Hi - No, I haven't ever asked for a CCA. The contact has gone from 0-100 very quickly and never had a need to request it before. Thanks for your suggestion, I will look at this further before doing anything.

    This might help

It’s from debt camel aka Sara who has appeared on moneybox , it says how to reply to a letter of claim. I think you know the consequences of doing nothing.

I am fully aware of the debates but have you ever even sent a cca request?

personally I would ask for the works especially as this is a relatively low amount but surely even a cca request would help.
If they have it you know, if not they may stop.

    Apr '21 - Default notice
    May'21 - Passed to DCA (w€stcots)
Jul'21 - Confirmation of residency letter form Tesco (ignored)
Jan '22 - Letter from Tesco - passed to M00rcr0ft
Jan'22 - Letter from Mcroft confirming this - furhter letter asking to get in touch. Ignored
Feb '22 - Letter from Mcoft asking to get in touch
Feb '22 - Further letter from Mcroft asking to get in touch or may send collector to house. Ignored
Mar' 22 - Lots of calls from Mcroft... ignoring.
May '22 - Letter saying there 'might be' a significant discount available to clear the account. Filed
Aug '23 - 15 months of radio silence... but now - LC Asset 2 have been assigned the account (Link will chase).

Not a lot of anything to report for ages, but suddenly a Letter of Claim has dropped through my door.... I guess the downside to blocking phone numbers is you don't know how active the DC's are! LC Asset 2 are the owners, which I have previous with. Hopefully they disappear into the wilderness, but seems unlikely!

Will see what comes next, but based on my experience to date, I imagine I'll be getting a claim through in a few weeks. Better gets JCS back on speed dial.

That's great news. A lot of us owe huge gratitude to AAD, and some forum users to JCS also.

5 of the 7 debts gone now, all thanks to AAD and JCS. Life looking a hell of a lot better as I approach my fourth year of this journey...

Thanks guys. I'm not sure where I'd be if I hadn't found this site.

Roger I'm fairly sure it's Lowell Portfolio 1, but will double check my paperwork later.

Like Pat I am suspicious as to why they are offering such a big discount so soon... can't be a bad thing for me

I will continue to sit on my hands on this one!
Just picking out the obvious from your Diary

The Debt is only £600 and they probably paid pennies in the Pound for the Account thats what £6.00
The 50% would still give them £300 for an outlay of £6.00 Its Not a Charity they are giving nothing away!
On a Cost basis to them its not worth their time really is it?

Lowell Portfolio 1 is mentioned here expressly
Lowell Portfolio - AAD Consumer Forum (all-about-debt.co.uk)

The Assignment Sep 2023 thats only what 4 months ago!

Now does this show on your CRA's reports?

Watch and wait see what comes next!
