  • CIFAS Marker Removed

I am absolutely delighted that today after months of stress, sleepless nights and uncertainty I have had confirmation that the CIFAS markers placed on my file by Barclays have been successfully challenged and removed. I cannot thank Niddy enough for everything he has done to help me come to this outcome I was at my wits end and really did not know where to turn but he has literally saved me from a very dark place. This has already had serious consequences for my relationship and probably my health but I can tell you I will be sleeping soundly tonight! I’m so happy I stumbled across this forum and specifically Niddy I really wish I could shake you hand because this really does mean so much! A donation will have to do though! This experience has taught me so much about how careful you really do need to be with your personal information and who you trust and I hope there can be changes to the whole system as to quote Niddy they are schysters! Thank you so much.

You're more than welcome. Glad to be able to help. Bottom line here, they had no lawful right to apply the Marker and even after citing their multiple failings, they stood firm. Eventually they did see sense - but just shows you how dirty they play because there was no apology or nothing - just removal through the night.

This is such good news. Well Done!

I think Barclays should pay compensation for their mistake - lots of compensation

They seem to forget that their customers are human beings with feelings, not just a reference number on a spreadsheet.

Doesn't make any sense - if you are the victim of an unlawful cifas then email me and I can help get it removed for you.

Is there any way you could help me?

I was recently informed about a cifas marker that was put on my name by Starling. It was my main bank Santander that made me aware of this, after opening a new e-saver account. It was after I made my request for the data cifas had on me I found out it was Starling that put it on me.

In context to what the marker was put on me for, it was because I unknowingly acted as a money mule. I joined a discord server, and since I was lots of people offering BTC to PayPal or BTC to bank transfer, it might be a nice way to make a little extra money while I was studying at uni. Little did I know that there were people that fraudulently access peoples accounts and send money to people for alternative forms of money. Starling messaged me a few times in regards to the transaction of £200 that was sent to me for BTC, but suffer from a condition which meant I was unable to respond to the messages when they were sent to me, often early in the mornings.

Since then I have contacted a cifas lawyer who had given me instructions to get a bank statement from Starling, but having emailed them 22 days ago, I still haven't gotten a response from them. He recommended I build a case with screenshot of the conversation (which I have), the bank statements (which I'm trying to obtain but don't know whether to follow up with another email OR to call them), and to include screenshots of the discord server. He however was asking for £2.5k something which as a new graduate I am unable to afford or obtain within such a short amount of time, especially when all my banks are being closed.

Right now I am very unsure of what to do, and since I need somewhere to have my earnings sent to, I am in a very tough predicament. Could you please advise?

                          Hi Redsaints,
just wanted to check if you know how long it took the marker to be removed from Cifas database?

I’ve got confirmation email from Barclays(offending bank that placed marker) that they have sent request to Cifas for market to be removed.

just wanted to check how quick Cifas is removing the marker after receiving the removal request from the organization that placed it.
                          thanks
