  • Stopped paying debts (have been unable to) and some PDL companies haven't contacted me?

    Hi all.

I've been in a lot of debt for a while now, and last year it took a turn for the worse. I lost my job and was kicked out of my parents house for a bit, so lived with my partner in a flat we managed to secure elsewhere. This added to expenses amongst other things and whilst we continued to look for work and was unsuccessful, eventually funds dried up and I could no longer keep up repayments on my debt management plan.

This was about 5 months ago. Since then, only some of my creditors have contacted me. HSBC, Capital One, Vanquis and Aqua have all sent me letters and transferred my debt to debt collectors and demanded repayment as expected. However, I have heard nothing from Northern Debt Recovery, Money Shop, Wonga and Speedy Cash. Is there a particular reason for this? Should I be expecting bailiffs at any point soon? I mention this now as I am compiling my creditors to enter into a token repayment plan until I get a job, and I have no recent statements to show from any of the aforementioned pay day loan companies. I don't want to ring them and request my balance as I'd rather not have any contact with them. Can anyone advise me on how to proceed?

If you ain't got nowt, then what can the creditors do - really?

You might be best going down the UE route and stop the dmp - for good.

Bailiffs can't be used for consumer debts, there will be no bailiffs. Stop worrying.

If you've not been contacted by the PDL companies then I wouldn't be contacting them to make a 'token' payment as it'd only stoke the hornets nest.

What I'm curious about is why they haven't tried to use the continuous payment authority to take payments from you bank account? Have you changed banks or cancelled the debit card you used to apply for the loans?

Who is advising you to make token payments?

Yeah, when I originally went on a DMP I switched banks and cancelled DD's, had new cards etc. Then I stopped being able to make the payments for the DMP so left them, and sought advice with stepchange who have advised a DMP but beforehand a token payment plan. They request balances from all creditors though and I haven't been able to get latest statements because I've been sent none.

Ok - then I'd be seriously considering looking at the UE route and tacking the PDL companies separately. Have you read through the UE section here?>>>>>

Random question guys..I just got a free credit report with Noddle and only some of the debts are showing up there. Some of them aren't even listed. If a debt isn't on my credit report what does that mean?

Some debts are only listed on one of the main three credit agencies. However, if a debt was defaulted over 6 years ago, then they would disapear to.
