  • Barclays Closing my Account?!

    Hey all,

Barclays wrote to me yesterday and have advised they're closing my account?

I have no idea why as I don't have an overdraft, I'm not in debt with them, and regularly have my salary paid into the account so have literally no idea why they would do this!?

    Any suggestions/help would be great

Is it a basic account? Have you went overdrawn 3+ times - ever?

It's a cash card account mate and no, never over-drawn. Literally, never.

Well that's strange. Any missed DD's? Any *significant* changes to your credit file such as CCJ etc?

Nope, the Direct Debits come out of my partners account and no CCJ's that I can see. I would presume I'd know about it if I did have one, lol.

This is the email I got from them when I questioned it:-

          Dear Mr Monk,

I can confirm I have not sent a letter advising that your account is to be closed, however, I can see that you have been sent a letter by Sean Foster. If we are going to close an account we are obliged to issue notice in writing, which is why it could not be sent to you via email, I am sorry if this is inconvenient.

We conduct regular reviews on accounts and there are a number of reasons why they can be closed, whilst I appreciate this can be frustrating, the Bank is entitled to make commercial decisions about who it provides services too.

          Yours sincerely
