Hi everyone,

I am just looking for some support around engaging legal advice.

In December 23 I sought some advice from a solicitor around professional negligence on mortgage advice, its been assisted by the fact the broker have admitted they breached FCA rules, the claim is worth about £34,000 in their calculations.

The solicitor opened a CFA, I know the solicitor (although I don't know if they are a solicitor as it says 'Litigator' online).

In May 24 we obtained Counsel advice, this I expected to get in writing following an online meeting with the Barrister and Solicitor, I paid £2,100 for this advice, in fairness no where did it say I would get written advice but I just didn't think a Barrister would only do this verbally.

Following this the solicitor has been quite slow in moving this forward, there has been very limited done on the file from May 24, having sent one or two letters to the other side.

The solicitor has now said that he isn't overly happy with Counsel, they've done something wrong on another file and would value input from another. This essentially means having to pay again for another Barrister to provide essentially the same advice.

I am bit conscious that the solicitor (who is a Litigator) on the website isn't quite confident in what to do in this claim and issue a Letter Before Claim on this. I get very slow replies to email and having opened the file in early 2024 it feels like this isn't good progress.

I am just looking for a bit of advice on this, what should I do?
